Why We Reimagined Be Solid Learning

When I first imagined Be Solid Learning, I thought I was creating a curriculum. I pictured monthly lessons, engaging activities, and practical resources that would help children build confidence, resilience, kindness, and strong character. It was a good idea, and for a long time, I genuinely believed it was enough.

But as time passed, I found myself asking harder questions.

Some of those questions came through my work with families. Others came much closer to home as I reflected on my own experiences as a parent. Like so many moms, I was constantly trying to figure out what would best help my children become kind, responsible, emotionally healthy adults. I read the books, listened to the podcasts, tried different parenting approaches, adjusted expectations, and searched for ideas that would strengthen our family.

Some of those ideas worked beautifully. Others didn't. More often than not, I discovered that something that worked incredibly well with one child had almost no impact on another. It wasn't because the advice was bad or because our family was somehow doing it wrong. It was because families are wonderfully unique, and children aren't meant to be raised through formulas.

Over time, I realized I wasn't really searching for another parenting strategy. What I was searching for was a way for our family to grow together.

That distinction changed everything.

As I reflected on the families I had the privilege of knowing, I noticed a pattern that repeated itself again and again. Parents genuinely wanted to help their children. Children wanted to succeed. Families wanted stronger relationships and healthier communication. Yet everyone seemed to be learning different things from different places. Parents were reading one book while children were hearing another message at school. Social media added its own opinions, and life moved quickly enough that simply keeping up felt like an accomplishment.

It wasn't that families lacked information. In many ways, we have more parenting information available today than ever before. What seemed to be missing was something much simpler: a shared language and a shared direction.

That realization led me to ask one question that completely reshaped Be Solid Learning:

What if the entire family was growing together instead of everyone learning separately?

The more I sat with that question, the clearer the answer became. If children learn one principle, but parents aren't learning alongside them, opportunities are missed. If parents attend a workshop but don't have practical ways to reinforce those ideas with their children, lasting change becomes much harder. If families don't intentionally create space to practice those principles together, even the best lessons eventually fade into the background of everyday life.

That was the moment Be Solid Learning stopped being a collection of resources and started becoming something much larger.

Instead of asking, "What should we teach this month?" I began asking, "How can we help families become the kind of family they want to be?"

The answer became the three academies.

The Parent Academy exists to equip parents with practical tools, encouragement, and confidence. The Kids Academy gives children weekly opportunities to learn and practice the same principles through engaging Kids Academy Labs. The Family Academy creates intentional moments where everyone comes back together through conversations, activities, service, and shared experiences. Rather than functioning as three separate programs, they became three parts of one journey, each reinforcing the others.

Everything is built around one monthly SOLID principle because lasting growth doesn't happen through isolated lessons. It happens when parents are learning, children are practicing, and families are intentionally applying those ideas in the ordinary moments of everyday life.

Ironically, that's where I believe the most meaningful transformation has always taken place. Rarely is it found in one extraordinary event. More often, it's found in the conversation after school, the apology after a disagreement, the family dinner that turned into a meaningful discussion, or the decision to try again after a difficult day. Those moments rarely feel significant while we're living them, but over time they become the culture of a family.

Today, when people ask me what Be Solid Learning is, I could describe the workshops, the Kids Academy Labs, the Family Journey Map, the podcast, the community, or the growing library of resources. Those things are certainly part of it, and I'm incredibly excited about each of them. But they aren't the heart of what we've built.

At its core, Be Solid Learning is a family growth system. It's a shared framework that helps families develop a common language, strengthen relationships, and intentionally become the kind of family they hope to be—not through perfection, but through consistent, ordinary moments of growth.

Looking back, I'm grateful that Be Solid Learning evolved beyond the original vision of social emotional learning kits. What began as an idea to teach life skills has become an invitation for families to grow together. And I can't think of a mission that is more meaningful than helping families build a culture that will influence not only their children, but generations to come.

I'm so glad you are here.
